About 5 months ago, I started a bible study with a group of college students, major in Accountancy. At first, I tried building my rapport and friendship so that they would not be intimidated with me. Ofcourse I don’t want them to view me as someone extraordinary.
So as weeks passes by, God is putting in my heart the desire to truly make disciples for this group of students. Since the mid of June, I started sharing biblical truths about God. First of all, I discussed the reality of heaven and hell then I ended up sharing Salvation. On the start of July, I opened a series of teaching regarding “REAL FAITH vs Phony Faith“.
Just like any other bible study leader, I ask God “what’s next?” All of a sudden God gave me this scripture Matthew 7:24-27,
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.“
Which are you, the wise builder or the foolish builder? In this passage God gave us only 2 options, no other options to take.
I was confused. I don’t know why God all of a sudden gives this scripture for me to share. However, God is truly faithful. As I seek for answers, God gave me wisdom. I realized that God wants my bible study members to really be serious about what we are doing. I can talk about lots of biblical stories but if they don’t give value of God’s Word, then the purpose of the bible study will be forfeited.
Daily Devotion Conclusion:
This passage is not just for me, my bible members or for the readers of this blog. It’s for all people. We need to choose either being a wise builder or a foolish builder who does not practice the Word of God. As christians, it is our mandate to live what the Word of God says. To put into practice everything that we’ve learned. Build your house on the Rock. BE A WISE BUILDER!
