God’s Power Unleashed
In the whole bible, God has shown so many miracles. Things that is extraordinary. Miracles that cannot be explained by our naked eye. Let me give a clear example on how God demonstrates HIS power just to redeem back His chosen people.
Since the time I’ve been reading the old testament, I encountered God calling Israelites as “Stiffnecked People.” They already experienced and see great miracles from God but they still turned back and worship foreign gods. God grieved for so many times however His love for His people never dies. No matter how Israelites walk away with God, still God walks towards them.
In 1 Kings 18:16-40, this talk about the time God raised Elijah to challenge the prophets of Baal. Elijah is the only prophet left because Jezebel is killing the Lord’s prophets. Elijah is one but Baal’s prophets are 450 in number. Imagine how courageous Elijah was to challenge these 450 people men.
HERE IS WHAT SHOULD TAKE PLACE:
1.) There will be 2 bulls; 1for Elijah, 1 for Baal’s prophets
2.) They will prepare the bull just like a sacrificial offering. The twist is that they should not light the fire of their own. They should call onto their gods and the gods should put the fire in it.
(This happened to prove who is the god that truly exists)
Those 450 prophets called onto Baal. They heavily shouted but there was no answer. They tried everything. They danced around the altar. They shouted louder and louder. They slashed themselves with swords and spears as they are accustomed doing. They also did the frantic prophesying till evening. In the end, no one answered. No god paid attention to what they did.
When Elijah is in place to call God, he prayed, “O Lord, ,answer me, so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” You know what happened next? “Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil and also licked up the water in the trench.“
The people saw what happened and the fell prostrate and cried.
“The Lord – he is God! The Lord – he is God!“
HOW CAN WE RELATE NOWADAYS:
Today, there are so many false prophets. They prophecy so many things. They tried to make people believe that what they are saying is true. In the book of Matthew, Jesus said, “Beware of False Prophets.”
Sad to say that occults and false prophets are greatly increasing in numbers. Just like in the time of Elijah. He is the only one left, and there are 450 prophets from Baal. Imagine it is 1:450 in ratio. Did Elijah fear? NO he didn’t! He knew what God is planning to do.
Do not feel hopeless. We as christians may seem to be out numbered in these battle we are fighting for. The enemy is millions upon millions and we are few. But it does not mean we will loose. In the bible, God gave victory from the group of Gideon (300 men). They slaughtered thousands of their enemies.
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO REMEMBER:
False prophets may call on their gods, but our GOD is the only true GOD! We may be out numbered; however we are just one prayer away to victory. God won’t let us fall. THE DEVIL CAN’T WIN, WE CAN’T LOOSE.
