Christians Attitude Towards Compassion

“Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”
Romans 12:15 (NASB)

Here’s a quick truth:

Sometimes, our problems did not come for us to be tested and humbled. Problems doesn’t mean that you are reaping the negative things that you sow before in your earlier years. Based from my personal experience and the testimonies that I’ve been hearing, God allowed each and everyone of us to feel hurt, rejected, humbled and depress. Not for the purpose of being sad but rather so that we could empathize and sympathize with others when they are in the same situation.

Sympathizing is not only applicable on good times. Reality is that people need  our attention and time once they are struggling.

I was greatly disappointed when I heard some christians say that they get tired talking to people about problems. They say that instead of being happy and blooming all day, heavy burdens fill their hearts whenever they hear problematic stories.

Always remember this: God called us to be His sons and daughters so that we could impart love to those who are lost and struggling. That is why the bible clearly states that we personally need bible reading and prayer in our lives. We did not gain spiritual knowledge for the sake of ourselves. Spiritual knowledge and wisdom is not for personal use alone!

Daily Devotion Conclusion:

Every bad situation happening in your life has a purpose to train and equip you. All the lessons you’ve learned from those memorable experiences are to be used to comfort and sympathize with other people who emotionally needed help. Don’t withheld yourself from helping others because according to Luke 6:36, “Be compassionate just as your Father is compassionate.

Do you expect unbelievers to care much for other people they don’t know? Ofcourse not. This is a call of service for all christians. Whether you like it or not, God require us to show compassion for other people just like Jesus did.
