How To Avoid Criticisms

Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD, the man you teach from your law; you grant him relief from days of trouble,  till a pit is dug for the wicked.
Psalms 94:12-13

Everyone hates criticism. No one likes to be corrected of their wrong actions, right? First of all, it hurts being corrected. We respond normally in an angry manner against the person correcting us although he’s telling the truth. Secondly,it feels a great shame on our part knowing that we’ve done foolish things.

Here’s reality, God doesn’t want us to feel hurt by other peoples corrections nor feel ashamed of what we did. This verse implies that the primary way of how God corrects us is through the Bible. The point is that if we will just cling on to God, read His bible everyday and have fellowship with Him in prayer, God won’t need to use other people to reprove our actions.

If you’ll be asked, to whom do you want to be corrected, with man or with God?

1.) Man is sinful in nature. They don’t care much about other people, what’s important is their life alone. In terms of correcting others, man just speak in any way he wanted. Whether it hurts or not, he speak with Freedom! Man doesn’t care with how their words affect others. When a man confronts, there is no love in it, rather it’s full of hatred or sometimes envy. Lastly, man wants to prove that he is right.

2.) God is loving. He doesn’t intend to hurt us, He just wanted us to change our life and turn away from wickedness. He always speaks with care having no hatred within. When God corrects, He always provide an extraordinary comfort that no man can offer. God never get angry with us no matter how we sin. He is love and His love endures forever.

Daily Devotion Conclusion:

God doesn’t want us to feel hurt by hearing other people reprove against us. However, since man neglect God’s Word and His teaching, He has no other option but to use a man to correct us. We gain criticisms from others because we leave God having no other choice. Remember this, if we will simply cling to God’s Word everyday, we will seldom hear people say negative towards us.

Frankly I can say to you that there’s nothing much greater than God giving us discipline. Choose God’s discipline than other peoples criticisms.
