Why Pray?

My life testimony about prayer

Before, I don’t know why my mother used to pray. I thought that it’s for us to pray for our daily needs – foods, shelter, and protection. I never realized that it’s far more than supplication. In fact, I am also wondering why she prays so long. How does prayer affects her, or us!

Here are some key points why we need to PRAY:

1.) Because God said Pray!

-          Luke 18:1 “Always pray and not give up.”

2.) Because prayer has power and authority.

-          As a son and daughter of God we have authority to pray like Paul and Silas on Acts 16.

-          Our work outward should be the result of our work inward.  Success is only attained when we are willing to bend our knees to God.

3.) Because prayer is our way to communicate with God.

-          Prayer is the true litmus paper test. You can’t show off in prayers.  There’s no pretending. You can go to church, go through the motions and do all kinds of religious things but nobody ever goes into a bedroom closes the door and gets on their knees to pretend.

Like me, I can’t pretend to God when I pray. You know why? because I’m alone in my room and I only have ONE audience. It’s just me and God and I can’t fool him!

“God speak to those who take time to listen and He listen to those who take time to pray.”

4.) Because prayer can make impossible, possible!

-          When my father was sick, my mother always pray and it made God do extraordinary miracle.  It was around 11pm when my father suddenly stops breathing. That time,  prayer is the only thing we can do. God is faithful enough to answer our prayers. After we stopped praying, my father woke up.

-          We need to have faith in prayer… because power comes from God!

5.) Because prayer is one act of worship.

-          Praying is an act of worship.  God is pleased to those who seek Him.  When we pray we adore Him, give thanks to Him, and see His goodness in our lives.

A – adoration

C – confession
