Why Thank God?
Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:2-5 (NIV)
Did you experience in your life that when you pray you have nothing much to say. It seems that there is nothing to be thankful for? I’m sure you are wrong about it! Just realizing that you are alive, strong and breathing, it is something which you should hardly thank God for. In reality, thousands of people don’t even get enough chance to wake up the next morning.
There are millions of things you can be thankful of. Anyway, I will list below 5 extraordinary reasons that will make you kneel down and thank God:
1.) Saviour – “He redeems your life from the pit.” You are not saved by your own works. According to Ephesians 2, “we are saved by grace not by works so that no one can boast.” You having a chance to live eternally with God is the best gift God gave you. You did not worked your salvation, you just simply accepted it.
2.) Forgiver – “He forgives all your sins.” Normally, humans don’t easily forgive. In fact, instead of forgiving others, people try to fight back and think of revenge for others. However, God does not take revenge everytime we sin against Him. Instead, He always pull us back to His arms.
3.) Lover – “He crowns you with love and compassion.” There is no other greater love than the love God offers us. It’s amazing because no matter how stubborn we are, God still does not take away His love for us. It is very hard to comprehend but in the end, it will always stay true!
4.) Healer - “He heals all your diseases.” We are born to have doctors surrounding us at times we feel sick. On the other hand, there is no one greater than the ultimate healer, GOD. Some people say that God’s doesn’t heal all sickness, I believe if each of us will pray humbly before God and combine it with true faith, nothing can stop God from healing us. Sad to say that most people pray without faith but still hope that they will be healed.
5.) Provider – “He satisfies your desires.” Is there any person whom you can see is a giver? Have you met anyone who gives without expecting anything in return? People are born selfish. I’m do not like to say it but it’s reality. We all think for our own good. When we talk about God, He’s a giver and He never expects anything in return. Isn’t it nice?
